BFC Boutique Tour: Heritage Re-Loved

Heritage Re-Loved is a vintage lifestyle independent shop inside the Elsecar Heritage Centre. They have been there for 5 years but before then they purely attended vintage fairs to sell their items. Owners Julie & Terry are both involved in the store, with Julie being an avid sewer and dressmaker, whilst Terry likes to do these beautiful painted furniture pieces. This completes the ‘lifestyle’ element to the shop, selling everything vintage from 1930’s to 70’s womenswear and menswear, home decorations, furniture, vintage fabrics and more.

Their ethos for the store is to bring old things back to new and find tossed away items, clean them up and re-present them in a new light. Julie will find vintage clothing pieces that may need a little bit of re-stitching or adjusting to retain their wearability, as well as making her own millinery in wool and feathered delights, in different styles from the 1930’s and onwards. Their customers come from far and wide to find their vintage clothing, especially their Harris Tweed items. Specialising in the brand, they have all men’s jackets, country clothing, up-cycled tweed and more in the beautiful fabric.

As part of Heritage Re-Loved, you can also attend their weekly sewing club where you are free to bring your own projects and socialize with like-minded sewers. They are planning on creating a ‘Cake and Craft’ class, bringing delicious cakes from the south coast to eat whilst learning to sew. As part of their making theme, you can also have bespoke clothing made for your vintage likeness, as well as custom furniture and wedding decor.

You can see Heritage Re-Loved at many vintage fairs and events throughout the year and all over the country with their stall. They love to attend the large events where everyone will get dressed in the styles from 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s, etc. and they will bring their clothing pieces, home decor and furniture, to showcase the vintage lifestyle. They believe the customers they find at these events, become dedicated and repeat customers to them. They also advertise on Facebook and sometimes have adverts in the town papers, but word of mouth is their most effective form of marketing.
